The next Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7-Star Tera Raid event will focus on Sceptile, the final form of the grass-type starter Treecko from the 3rd generation.
After a special raid where players can challenge Emboar, players of the Scarlet and Violet colors will have the opportunity to battle Sceptile with the Mighty Mark. Normally, Treecko’s final form is a pure grass-type Pokemon, but in the Tera Raid, this will not be the case.
If you want to battle this mighty Pokemon and defeat it, here’s everything you need to know about the 7-Star Tera Raid Sceptile, from when it will take place to the best Pokemon to counter it.
When will Sceptile appear in Tera Raids?
The 7-Star Sceptile Tera Raid for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will take place from Friday, June 28, 2024, 00:00 UTC to Sunday, June 30, 2024, 23:59 UTC. It will return from Friday, July 5, 2024, 00:00 UTC to Sunday, July 7, 2024, 23:59 UTC.
Please note that you can only catch one Sceptile in each save file, although you can challenge it as many times as you want.
7-Star Moves, Type, and Ability
While Sceptile is usually associated with the pure grass type, Unparalleled Sceptile has the Tera Dragon type as a tribute to the Mega Evolution of Grass/Dragon type Pokemon.
Base Stats of Sceptile
Sceptile Moves
Sceptile’s moveset for the raid is not confirmed, but the following is likely based on the Pokemon’s stats and typing:
- Dragon Greeting
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Pulse
- Energy Ball
- Focus Blast
- Leaf Blade
- Solar Beam
- Sunny Day
- Tera Blast
We will definitely update this guide with the exact set of Sceptile moves once the event starts.
Sceptile’s main advantage is its speed, allowing it to deliver special attacks and try to defeat opponents before they can strike. However, Sceptile’s low defense makes it vulnerable, especially to physical attacks.
In these 7-Star raids, the key is to continue the battle, so you’ll need a Pokemon with high HP and special defense that can withstand multiple hits.
Best 7-Star Tera Raid Counters for Sceptile
Here are some of the best Pokemon that can counter Sceptile using the Mighty Mark in battles during the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Tera Raid.
Magearna
The mythical 7th generation Magearna is not easy to obtain, but if you have it, it’s a great option to counter Unparalleled Sceptile. This is due to its unique dual Steel/Fairy type, which makes it immune to Dragon-type moves and nine types, including Grass.
In addition to its typing, Magearna has an impressive special attack stat, which will help it heavily hit Sceptile with STAB Fairy-type moves. Its signature move, Flower Cannon, has an impressive base power of 130, although it lowers the user’s special attack by two stages.
To make the most of using Fleur Cannon, give Magearna a Pixie Plate to boost its Fairy-type attacks and use Calm Mind to increase its special attack and special defense by one stage each.
Regarding Magearna’s other moves, Draining Kiss allows you to recover some HP, dealing STAB damage, and Light Screen is a good option to reduce the damage from special attacks your team receives.
If you don’t have Magearna, the easier to find Togekiss has the same type, although its attack and special attack stats leave something to be desired.
Flutter Mane
This Paradox-exclusive Pokemon for Scarlet is another good option to fight Sceptile.
Flutter Mane’s Ghost/Fairy type gives it immunity to Dragon, Normal, and Fighting type attacks, but it is weak only to Ghost and Steel, which Sceptile cannot use. It also has good special attack, special defense, and speed, though its HP is not great.
Taking advantage of the text set and Flutter Mane’s special attack, you will be able to defeat Unparalleled Sceptile. Pixie Plate and Focus Sash are good options for held items, though Leftovers is probably the best choice, as it restores some health every turn..
When it comes to moveset, the most important move here is Moongeist Beam, which deals super effective STAB damage. Playful Tears and Calm Mind are good status moves for this build; the former lowers the opponent’s special defense by two stages, and the latter increases the user’s special attack and special defense by one stage each.
Finally, Draining Kiss can fill the slot of the last move, providing the opportunity to heal while dealing damage.
Sylveon
Unlike the other mentioned ideal Pokemon, Sylveon is quite easy to find: Eeveelutions are available in both Scarlet and Violet.
What really helps Sylveon are its hidden abilities. Pixilate, which turns normal-type moves into fairy and slightly boosts their power..
Your main damaging move here is: Hyper Beam. Although it requires the user to skip the next turn for recharge, the power of this move—along with Sylveon’s high special attack and the benefits of Pixilate—means that it shouldn’t be a big problem.
Since Sylveon will be much slower than Sceptile, you can take damage on the first turn, then restore some health with Shell Bell on your turn and repeat.
As in previous builds, Fake Tears and Calm Mind are excellent choices to resist Sceptile and strengthen Sylveon, and Draining Kiss gives you another way to restore HP while reducing Sceptile’s health.
