Lepic is a descendant who mainly deals fire damage, usually using his active skills of grenade launcher and turret. He ranks A-Tier on our list of best characters in the game, and he more than deserves this reputation.
Considering how the meta plays out in the current version of The First Descendant, Lepic is one of the most challenging characters to use effectively. Here’s everything you need to know about approaching your build.

Best Active Skills for Lepic
With various ways in which Lepic excels in combat, two skills stand out as the biggest parts of his rotation. The first is the Traction Grenade, which gathers enemies together within reach. This is important because a large part of Lepic’s damage potential comes from area attacks.
This is where Surplus comes into his arsenal as the primary ability to deal damage. The powerful projectile he releases is especially effective against large groups in close combat, so Surplus becomes so impressive after Traction Grenade has done the heavy lifting.
All skills explained
Here are all the available skills for Lepic in The First Descendant:
- Close Call (Passive): During battle, there is a chance to survive by receiving mortal wounds.
- Grenade: Throws a grenade forward towards an enemy (additional burns when Overcharged).
- Overcharge: Increases the attack of all skills and adds a burn effect to the grenade and surplus for a set duration.
- Traction Grenade: Throws a traction grenade forward to attract enemies within range.
- Surplus: Releases a powerful projectile at the enemy. The projectile is held at the landing point for a set period, dealing constant damage (additional burns when Overcharged).
Best Weapon to Use with Lepic
The rightful best choice of weapon for Lepic is the Thunder Cage submachine gun. Thunder Cage is a sturdy primary weapon on its own, but it comes into its own in the hands of Lepic. As the primary AoE Descendant, Lepic’s active skills unfortunately cost a disproportionate amount of resources.
The unique skill of Thunder Cage, Overcharge, triggers an AoE shockwave after the last hit. This helps bridge the gap when you run out of MP but still need to deal AoE damage.
Here are the full weapon specifications:
- ATK: 24
- Rate of Fire: 666
- Reload Time: 1.4 seconds
- Overcharge: Defeating an enemy triggers an electric shockwave, dealing firearm damage to nearby enemies within a 3-meter radius.
Most of the game still revolves around dealing damage to weak points and bosses with a large health pool. Lepic may fall short in this department, and the Afterglow Sword sniper rifle excels at bridging this gap.
The weapon carries a unique skill, Nightmare Reaper. It triggers the Death Propagation effect upon hitting an enemy’s vulnerable spot, adding 5% damage per stack for each subsequent hit on a vulnerable spot.
Here are the full weapon specifications:
- ATK: 240
- Rate of Fire: 66
- Reload Time: 2.5 seconds
- Nightmare Reaper: Hitting an enemy’s vulnerable spot triggers the unique ability Death Propagation. Hitting an enemy commander or Colossus increases the chance of critical hits with firearms and applies the effect to the attack.
Best Reactor
Reactors play a crucial role in The First Descendant, offering skill improvements, damage, and overall combat effectiveness. For Lepic, you should use reactors with high skill power and fire enhancement.
Skill Power will help across the board, and Skill Critical Hit Damage is also nice to have, increasing damage with each Critical Hit. The best reactors for this are:
- Blazing Singularity: Increases fire and tech damage
- Burning Mechanics: Increases fire and singular attacks

Best External Components
External components are one of the areas where players are obliged to heavy grind and pray to RNG gods. However, if you want to complement your build with the best of what’s available, here’s what you should choose:
- Max HP
- HP Recovery
- Max Shields
- DEFENSE
Lepic can be quite fragile, especially against high-damage single-hit enemies. Solving this problem should be the central focus of your hunt for external components. So we went for upgrades to Max HP and HP Recovery, as well as Max Shields and DEF for greater survivability.
