Mortal Kombat is known for its iconic Fatalities and Brutalities, which combine excessive violence with a dose of dark humor. So, here’s how to gain a competitive edge by mastering these iconic finishing moves in Mortal Kombat 11.
In Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm Studios has returned to the basics and emphasized the features that made fans love the franchise, such as Fatalities.
The game reintroduces original characters like Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade, but the gameplay has become slower and more focused on close combat, reminiscent of Mortal Kombat 2.
To prepare you for all the brutal battles in the game, here’s how to unlock and perform Fatalities and Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 11.
How to do a Brutality in Mortal Kombat 11
Brutality differs slightly from Fatalities. Players can perform a Brutality as a round and combo ender.
However, there’s a catch: Players will have to fulfill a specific match condition to properly execute their brutality.
For example, players may need to land the final blow with a throw while holding a certain button to perform Sub-Zero’s «Ceiling Dance» Brutality.
Similar to Fatalities, players in Mortal Kombat 11 can find out what conditions are required for their Brutality in the «moves list» tab of their selected character.
How to do a Fatality in Mortal Kombat 11
Players can perform a Fatality by inputting a sequence of buttons after completely depleting the opponent’s health bar.
Here’s how to perform a Fatality in Mortal Kombat 11:
- Load Mortal Kombat 11 and enter the game.
- Choose your character of choice.
- Press Pause and select the ‘moves list‘ option to find the sequences you need.
- Then, go to finishing moves and you will find a list of available Fatalities.
- Execute the sequence for the character until the announcer says, «Finish him/her!»
- Perform the Fatality using the in-game button sequence provided.
Mortal Kombat 11 Sequence Types: Controls
Fatalities have different button sequences depending on the player’s selected character. Button sequences consist of a combination of the following:
- Front Punch: Square PS4/5, X Xbox One/X|S, Y-Switch
- Back Punch: Triangle PS4/5, Y Xbox One/X|S, X Switch
- Front Kick: X PS4/5, A Xbox One/X|S, B Switch
- Back Kick: Circle PS4/5, B Xbox One/X|S, A Switch
Fatalities button sequences can also include directional inputs, but these can be performed using the D-pad or joystick, depending on the direction you are facing your opponent.
During this brief window, the player can execute their character’s Fatality. If the player inputs the correct button sequence, the fighter is likely to somehow decapitate the opponent.
Each character in Mortal Kombat 11 has unique Fatalities based on their aesthetics and gameplay. Thus, depending on the fighter you choose, players are provided with numerous ways to brutally finish off their opponents.
