Stellar Miracle marks the introduction of the Stellar Tera card type in Pokemon TCG, along with many new ACE SPECs and full-fledged artistic masterpieces.
This expansion set is aimed at collectors, with many unique artistic styles and aesthetics to enjoy, but there is also plenty of power for competitive players. Even the common cards have been lauded by fans for their creative mechanics in the set.
Here we have compiled a ranking of the top 10 Pokémon cards from Stellar Miracle, analyzing both their aesthetic appeal and competitiveness to help you choose the next card to chase after Scarlet and Violet.
Please note: Stellar Miracle is set to release on July 19th. Information may change, so be sure to check for additional updates.
10. Gravity Stone (095/102)
Gravity Stone is arguably one of the most interesting Pokemon tools introduced in the current generation of expansions. It is situational, but with the right setup, it can significantly complicate your opponent’s life.
When Gravity Stone is attached to a Pokémon in the active spot, the retreat cost for both active monsters increases by 1 colorless energy unit.
While this may seem silly – increasing the retreat cost, in Stellar Miracle there are some Pokémon cards that thrive in such conditions. For example, Talonflame has access to Aero Chase – dealing 110 damage, but dealing an additional 110 if the opponent’s retreat cost is 2 energy or higher.
In addition, increasing energy costs is a reliable strategy, allowing you to slow down your opponent in the early stages of the game and create a blocking or counterattack strategy.
9. Drednaw (026/102)
We referred to the fact that some players believe even the simplest Stellar Miracle cards were created intentionally – this Drednaw is a perfect example of this.
The ability «Impervious Shell» can surround strong opponents with a wall, meaning if an attack was supposed to deal 200 damage or more to Drednaw, it will do nothing.
Hard Crunch deals 80 damage and then another 80 damage if the opponent’s active Pokémon already has any damage counters. This can be an excellent card for quick switching, sniping attacks on opponents with Hard Crunch and simultaneously setting up walls against strong opponents.
8. Grimmsnarl (066/102)
Grimmsnarl is a controversial Pokémon – some people love it, others find it creepy. This card is strong, with access to an Attack that can be incredibly annoying to play against.
Provocative Clutch Attack switches your opponent’s Active Pokémon to the Bench. This allows them to choose a new Active Pokémon before dealing 160 damage to it.
Another attack – Knuckle Sandwich, deals 160 damage, then requires discarding 2 Energy cards. This Grimmsnarl is extremely aggressive, and while it may not have the highest HP, it’s definitely worth adding to your deck.
7. Crabominable (107/102)
While Crabominable may not be the most popular Pokémon, this card seems to have a certain weight on the competitive scene – and its artwork is simply out of this world.
Crabominable has access to the Ability Prep Work, which you will also see in other Pokémon in Stellar Miracle. For each Koffing card discarded for Crabominable’s attacks, they cost 1 Colorless Energy less.
